International Relations Faculty of MGIMO University is pleased to offer programmes of
International Relations Faculty is one of the key divisions of MGIMO University. It prepares experts in international relations: diplomats of all ranks, civil servants working in different government departments, politicians and political analysts. In our studies we attach special importance to international relations, foreign policy, diplomatic and regional studies and foreign languages.
Our Faculty specializes in teaching general English as well as political translation. Almost all of our graduates use English in their work. Therefore, English is the subject of primary importance for our students. The English Language Department offers an
The project is aimed at developing public speaking skills which are, obviously, essential for future diplomats and politicians. Moreover, training such skills in multicultural community is particularly useful. Efficient communicators must possess special skills of talking to people from different countries, of different nationalities, religious views and background. We suppose these conferences and prior preparation will help students to acquire some vital skills and will give an opportunity to discuss some current hot issues with their peers. Students will have an opportunity to develop their ability to compromise and make concessions, to be involved in a multilateral debate on issues of mutual concern and to act as negotiators or mediators in conflict settlement.
We suggest some possible topics for discussion:
1. Globalization and the way it influences our

3. A changing role of the UN in the modern world.

5. NATO vs EU. Defense and security matters in transatlantic relations.
6. What are the Russians like? Russia’s standing in the modern world.
We are ready to consider your proposals and discuss any topics concerning international relations, security and defense matters, globalization, multiculturalism etc. We hope
We suggest the following formats:
1. Debating club on hot issues
2. Round table discussions
3. Quiz/talk show
4. Role plays.
Besides, we are willing to set up contacts with our colleagues and discuss foreign language teaching methods
1. Language learning through cultural studies.
2. Increasing students’ motivation in learning foreign languages.
3. Communicative approach to foreign language teaching. (team work, role plays, presentations, projects)
4. Developing writing skills.
